***The NCAPA board has decided to phase out the NCAPA Certification and will no longer be taking applications, effective July 17, 2016. For those who are currently certified, their certification will be honored until its expiration date. If those members who are currently certified do not have one of the national certifications and who would like to be nationally certified, NCAPA is offering to pay the initial fee to either NCCAP or NAAPCC. National Certification Council of Activity Professionals (NCCAP) (www.nccap.org) is one of the Certifying Bodies recognized by Federal law, and incorporated in many state regulations. NCCAP is the PREMIER national organization that exclusively certifies activity professionals who work with the elderly in primarily LTC settings. Certified Activity Professionals receive the following benefits:
- Enhanced professional recognition and development
- Collaboration at the national level with other long-term health care associations
- Regular communication with our membership through technology
- Inclusion in the national registry of Certified Activity Professionals
- Recognition as an Activity Professional who has met a higher standard of excellence and knowledge of the profession thru education
National Association of Activity Professionals Credentialing Center (NAAPCC) (www.naapcc.net): is organized as an independent body exclusively for the purpose of credentialing Activity Professionals that meet the standards and requirements set forth by the Center. Activity Professionals will need to pass the competency exam to be issued a Board Certified Credential.
We offer an all-encompassing certification to assure that the individual is well rounded and prepared to work in any setting with a geriatric population. This option is open to all Activity Professionals working in Activities/Recreation with the elderly. Certification is available as Activity Professional-Board Certified (AP-BC) or Activity Consultant-Board Certified (AC-BC).
